United Way of Transylvania County (UWTC) announced Friday, June 7, that it will allocate $330,000 of its fiscal 2019-2020 budget to 15 local programs serving Transylvania County residents. The funded programs address the areas of health, education, and financial stability, and expect to deliver 4432 instances of care, support, and guidance to Transylvania County individuals, families and children over the funding period.
A team of 13 volunteers dedicated more than 178 hours reviewing requests to fund local programs. The volunteers made site visits to assess each program’s potential for measurable impact in the community. Working in teams, volunteers evaluated how well each program aligns with UWTC’s mission and vision.
“I am so impressed by the level of personal investment that each of our Allocations Team Volunteers brought to United Way’s funding decisions. I’m looking forward to working with our funded programs as they continue to develop and grow in their service to our community,” said Louis Negrón, United Way of Transylvania County CEO.
“Volunteers serving our community make up United Way of Transylvania County. They represent the wishes of the donors, using their experience and knowledge to decide which programs get funded, and ensuring that programs offer measurable results for our community. Thanks to all the volunteers who assisted in the allocations process this year. What a wonderful collaborative community we all share!” explained Joni Pavlik, volunteer Allocations Chair for UWTC.
