Balsam Grove and Little River Community Centers to host
Louis Negrón, Chief Executive Officer of United Way of Transylvania County (UWTC), invites members of the community to meet him for the Community Chat series in June. These informal conversations focus on the local United Way—where it is and where it should grow to address community needs.
“I have enjoyed meeting so many compassionate and caring people at the Fireside and Community Chats, and hearing everyone’s ideas for United Way of Transylvania County. I appreciate discovering the great variety of ideas and finding all the common threads that connect everyone in the county. I look forward to listening at the Balsam Grove and Little River Community Centers in June. Together we "Live United as one Transylvania County," Negrón said.
On Wednesday, June 19, from 11:30 until 1:00, Negrón will be at Balsam Grove Community Center at 8732 Parkway Road, near the intersection of Tanasee Gap Road and Hwy 215. The Community Playgroups program, funded by United Way, will meet there from 10 until 11:30, and The Bread of Life Food Truck will be on site from noon until 1:00.
“Bread of Life’s Food Truck has been providing free, no questions asked meals at Balsam Grove and other community centers for the past few months…of course, we do accept donations everywhere we go,” explained Michael Collins, Operations Director at Bread of Life.
On Thursday, June 20, from 6:30 until 7:30, Negrón will be at Little River Community Center, 191 Little River Church Road, off Crab Creek Road. The community’s pot luck dinner starts at 6:30; informal conversations will continue until the community meeting starts at 7:30.
Contact UWTC to suggest a Community Chat location or to have Negrón speak at a club or group meeting.
