Eat Local Shop Local for United Way June 15

Release Date: 05/30/19 (for immediate release)

Saunders Grommesh, Resource Development Director for United Way of Transylvania County, hangs an Eat Local Shop Local poster on the office door. Posters and yard signs will help United Way supporters identify participating businesses on June 15.

Eat Local Shop Local, United Way of Transylvania County’s annual focus on keeping things local and giving through community, happens Saturday, June 15 this year. Participating ‘Eat Local Shop Local’ businesses pledge to donate a portion of sales that day to United Way of Transylvania County (UWTC) programs.

United Way supporters can start looking now for Eat Local Shop Local flyers in shop windows, and then for the signs in front of participating businesses on June 15. Lists of participating sponsors will be shared on UWTC’s website, in newspapers and on social media sites.

“Since Eat Local Shop Local is on Father’s Day weekend, gifts for dads and special meals with dads purchased from participating merchants will help fund important services in our community,” said Saunders Grommesh, Resource Development Director for United Way of Transylvania County.

“Eat Local Shop Local is a great way for people to celebrate Father’s Day, support collaborative programs that help our community members in need, and benefit our local businesses. It’s a win-win-win opportunity,” Grommesh continued.

Last year’s Eat Local Shop Local event included a record-breaking 56 businesses and raised over $8,000 for UWTC’s local programs.

“Our goal for this year’s Eat Local Shop Local is $10,000, to help United Way of Transylvania County have a strong finish for our annual campaign,” added Grommesh.
