Through Bridging the Gap, Neighbors in Ministry Inc./Rise & Shine and El Centro Comunitario Hispano Americano cultivate stronger relationships with the parents/guardians of our scholars/members, as well as with the Transylvania County School System through workshops and brainstorm sessions. In doing this, we create a stronger sense of community within local organizations sharing the same goal to support and enhance youth as they strive to reach their full potential. The goals are to increase overall GPAs of members/scholars, attendance, and parent/guardian participation.
For the past two decades, SAFE, Inc. of Transylvania County (SAFE) and Pisgah Legal Service (PLS) have partnered to help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their families escape abuse. The Domestic Violence Prevention Partnership helps domestic violence and sexual assault victims with the urgent need for safety from their abusers and to build their lives in the long term. With free legal assistance and support services, domestic violence survivors can become independent and stable, helping to break the cycle of abuse by teaching their children self-respect and self-reliance in an environment free of abuse in which they can flourish.
Blue Ridge Community Heath Services (BRCHS) collaborates with SAFE (a local domestic violence shelter) and The Haven (a local homeless shelter) to provide access for clients from both organizations to receive medical, dental and behavioral health services at the Brevard Health Center (BHC). Coordinated Access to Healthcare for Transylvania County's Most Vulnerable offers these clients access to pharmaceuticals at significantly reduced costs through the BRCHS 340B drug discount program. BRCHS also coordinates with the Transylvania County Director of Transportation to provide transportation when necessary for those clients who need to travel to the BHC and local pharmacy.
