The
Transylvania County Chapter of the American Red Cross is responsible for
relief for disaster victims; participation in county wide disaster
response and planning; emergency services for military personnel and
their families; blood collection for hospital use; they offer programs
in health, safety and community services throughout the year including
CPR, first aid, babysitting, life guarding, water safety programs at the
summer camps, pools and lakes, and many more. They have a youth corps
and offer many programs for them to participate in community service
projects.

Center for Dialogue provides free, confidential mediation services
for the resolution of interpersonal disputes. Mediators help parties
define possible solutions and work toward a mutually acceptable
agreement. Referrals come from agencies such as courts, law enforcement,
schools, businesses, churches, and the community at large.

The goal of Koala, Inc. is simply to provide an adult day care
center in Transylvania County. The center operates on the social model

givers, offering them the opportunity to remain in the work force, or simple

distributing usable surplus and non-saleable food to not-for-profit

Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute is a not-for-profit public foundation established in 1998. Located in the Pisgah Forest 30 miles southwest of Asheville, NC, the PARI campus is a dark sky location for astronomy. The 200-acre campus houses radio and optical telescopes, earth science instruments, and all the infrastructure necessary to support STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education and research. PARI offers educational programs at all levels, from K-12 through post-graduate research.

who live in Southwest Brevard. Referrals come from parents and teachers.
NIM also operates "Summer Adventure", a day camp for children
of working parents who cannot afford conventional childcare.
