| The United Way is a
volunteer organization run by area citizens. Your contributions
are distributed to non-profit charities through a process we call
"allocation review". During this process a committee of
volunteers from OUR community investigate organizations, review their
requests and budgets, and decide how much funding they should
receive. All of our funds are allocated to agencies who serve
residents in Transylvania County. All
expenditures are doubled checked carefully by a volunteer finance
committee and annual independent audits.
